Remote Twitter control for your PC!

If you've ever left for work, realising you left your PC on, perhaps you'd like a way to turn it off?

With TweetMyPC, you can remotely log out, restart, or shut down your PC using a Twitter account! Once installed, you just have to enter some Twitter account details and restart Windows for TweetMyPC to be ready for action.

It's a good idea to open a special account for this otherwise your Twitter friends might think you've gone crazy, as you activate TweetMyPC by posting tweets: Shutdown, Restart and Logoff are the case sensitive commands, that do exactly what they suggest!

TweetMyPC works by checking the Twitter account every minute, and responding accordingly. Once it has started logging off or shutting the process can't be stopped, but there is a 90 second period to allow users to finish what they are doing. Therefore it's not quite an emergency security tool, but it's still pretty useful. The tweet commands are not written anywhere in the application, so you have to remember them, or go to the developer's site.

It may only do three things, but it's a pretty cool fail safe device to switch off your PC should you forget.

Lame. Needs a Twitter account? And it only supports 3 commands? Okaaaaaaaay. What happens if I can't access Twitter for some reason, such as at work where I don't get web access? Not very well thought out. More of a gimmick.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
